This beautiful collection of songs reminds me of some of the best '60s and
early '70s, with nuggets that echo Bad Finger in full Paul McCartney-mode.
Stereowide comes from that all-too-brief period before music became
bloated, when it was more about the melody and less about the business
(Jim Dunn, Playback St. Louis).

"...their music treads closer toward flat-out rock, mixing in the ethereal
textures of Yo La Tengo with a strong backbone of tension. Stirred in with
the guitar, bass and drums is a dose of Farfisa and Mellotron, and unlike
most one-trick ponies out there in the rock world, Tinhorn understand
dynamics and variety and has discarded the oft-boring aggression in favor
of subtler, more confusing emotions. They even mix in a remarkable
quasi-surf song, the freaky "Insomnia."

Upstream/Downstream: A Benefit for the Victims
Hurricane Katrina
Release date: 2005
Label: Stickhorse Records

Featured artists: Jay Farrar, Tinhorn, Bob Reuter,
and the Highway Matrons.

It's a beautiful thing when people work together, and this disc is
proof. A double-helping of some of the finest roots rock and twang-
pop this side of the Mississippi, "Upstream/Downstream" is well
worth the sticker price -- even before considering that ALL the
proceeds from this disc go to Hurricane Katrina relief efforts.

Buy today, enjoy this disc tomorrow, and feel good for a long time
about sharing some love with folks that really need our help right now.

Track 07: Club Nitty Gritty (Tinhorn)

John Lennon was once quoted as saying, "If you tried to give
rock & roll another name, you might call it Chuck Berry." He didn't
exaggerate: Chuck Berry's songs embody not only rock & roll but
the community and spirit of St. Louis, the city he calls home. Brown
Eyed Handsome Man is a compilation of Chuck Berry songs newly
recorded and re-imagined by a number of St. Louis' foremost artists.
